Alicja Kamaj – Wearable Art & Emotional Fashion Objects

Here comes an invitation to acknowledge vulnerability — and to submit one’s body to it. In my practice, I explore the intimacy and emotional weight woven into the garments we wear. I let their story guide me and accept the outcomes — not without discomfort, but with trust.

ABOUT

Alicja Kamaj is a contemporary fashion designer and artist working between Poland and Sweden. Her practice explores the emotional relationship between the body and clothing, through textile-based objects that often function beyond traditional wearability.

With a background in crafts and performance, her work merges sculptural fashion, body memory, and intimate materiality. Her latest collection, Skinning Over, was presented as part of her Master's degree at the Swedish School of Textiles in 2024.

In 2025, she was selected as a finalist of Ung Svensk Form, a prestigious award showcasing emerging voices in Swedish design.

Alicja also works as a costume designer, creating for theatres — a space that provides a rich foundation for her ongoing exploration of the emotional and symbolic potential of clothing as a form.
